Come out to SPD to meet the brothers of our fraternity and have a guided tour of our houses on University & 30th St. Be sure to come hungry - we’ll also have plenty of freshly grilled burgers cooked by the members of our house.
Come out and join us for a night of mini golf!
This event is without a doubt the highlight of the week. Come out to one of LA’s finest indoor shooting ranges and learn how to shoot a shotgun. Following that, we’re headed to Banquet.
Enjoy some intense dodgeball games at Skyzone with the boys!
After a week of getting to know the rush candidates, the brothers of the house will invite a select few to a formal dinner hosted in Hollywood. This is a formal event - please dress appropriately.
Sigma Phi Delta is both a social and professional fraternity - we know how to get work done, but we also know how to have a good time. The events we hold on the first week of school is a great opportunity to see if our house's culture is a good fit for you. The ideal member is someone who can balance a social life with a full workload from Viterbi.
Our house has a vast history spanning 90 years at USC. We have been a major part of the Viterbi School of Engineering, and our alumni have gone on to start their own companies or work at some of the best engineering employers in the country - including Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Boeing, Chevron, Qualcomm, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, SpaceX, Riot Games, Square, Snapchat, Garmin, Tesla, Naughty Dog, and many more.
Come stop by and see what we’re all about! You have all week to decide if you want to join. Applications are due after the last event on Thursday. For those who submitted qualified applications, we will ask you to come in for a final interview to work out logistics of solidifying your membership to Sigma Phi Delta.
We put great emphasis on a safe balance of both work and play. You truly aren't living college if your only friends are your textbooks. Sigma Phi Delta members are anything but the "typical" engineer. While we take the same classes, help eachother out with homework, and study together, we also party together. At minimum, social events we hold every semester include but are not limited to:
This is a themed dance that is all about welcoming new SPD members. We take a bus with all our dates out to an LA area venue. All expenses are paid for by the house, which yields the benefit of booking high profile venues at a lower cost for you! Most recent venues have included:
Registered parties are parties that require both a guest list and approval by USC. Security is hired, professional DJs/bands, and every party has a theme. Only members are allowed to add to the guest list, but the social chair may decide to let in other USC students as well. Most recent registered parties in the past have included:
Every Monday evening, we gather at the house and have dinner together. We have a catering company bring us all you can eat, good, finger lickin' food.
Every Thursday night we gather at the house, hang out and BBQ. During this time everyone is either playing videogames, working on homework or both! It's our way to kick back in the afternoon while we go about our daily tasks.
Formal is much like invite, only, you guessed it, formal! You and your date dress up and we go to a very nice venue. There we have dinner and then dance the night away! Recent venues have included:
As true engineers we hold a couple philanthropy events throughout the semester to help out the community. Our fraternity was founded on Science, Friendship, and Duty, hence SPD. Philanthropy is one way we fulfill our duty to give back.
All events will meet at the Sigma Phi Delta house before departing for the location. We are the house on the right!
